Protecting Your Content from Being Leaked
While Fanlock removes leaks after they happen, there are steps you can take to minimize the risk of leaks in the first place.
Prevention Tips
1. Watermark Your Content
Add a visible watermark with your official username or website. This:
- Discourages sharing (the watermark makes it less appealing)
- Makes it easier to prove ownership
- Helps us verify content is yours during takedowns
Tip: Place watermarks in areas that are hard to crop out.
2. Be Careful with PPV Content
Pay-per-view content is often leaked because:
- Subscribers who pay once share it widely
- Higher-priced content is seen as more "valuable" to pirates
Consider sending PPV to established subscribers rather than brand new ones.
3. Monitor Your Subscriber Behavior
Watch for red flags like:
- New subscribers who immediately buy all your PPV
- Accounts with generic usernames or no profile info
- Subscribers who request specific custom content types frequently
4. Avoid Sending Content via DM
Content sent directly in DMs (especially on platforms with screenshot protection disabled) is easier to capture and share. When possible, post content to your main feed or as PPV.
5. Use Fanlock's Automated Scanning
The faster a leak is detected, the less it spreads. Upgraded Fanlock plans offer:
- Basic: Weekly scans
- Pro: Daily scans
- Max: Real-time monitoring
Earlier detection means faster removal and less damage.
If You Get Leaked
Don't panic. Here's what to do:
- Submit the leak through your Fanlock dashboard (or start a free scan if you're new)
- Don't engage with the pirates or leak sites directly
- Let us handle it—we know the most effective approaches for each platform
Regular Scanning is Key
Many creators don't know they've been leaked until someone tells them—often too late. Running regular scans (automatic on paid plans) ensures leaks are caught and removed quickly.
